Paediatric dentistry at Tooth Journey

Kids' dental treatments, explained for parents

Every treatment starts with numbing where needed, an explanation in words your child understands, and your go-ahead. Nothing begins without it.

Saves the milk tooth

Pulpectomy (Milk Tooth Root Canal)

When a cavity reaches the nerve of a milk tooth, pulpectomy clears the infection and ends the pain, so the tooth can stay in place until it is ready to fall on its own. Done with numbing, usually in one or two short visits.

Stops decay early

Kids' Fillings

Tooth coloured fillings for cavities in milk teeth and newly erupted permanent teeth. Caught early, most cavities need only a small, quick filling, and your child leaves with a tooth that looks like nothing happened.

Prevention in minutes

Fluoride Application

A quick, painless varnish brushed onto the teeth that hardens enamel and lowers the chance of new cavities. Recommended around every six months from the first tooth onward, and especially for children who have had cavities before.

Gentle and quick

Child Tooth Extraction

Removal of milk teeth that are badly decayed, infected, or refusing to fall while the permanent tooth is already coming in behind. Numbing gel first, then the injection, then a few gentle seconds. Most children are surprised it is already over.

First check at age 7

Braces & Aligners for All Ages

Achieve a healthier, more confident smile with metal, ceramic, and clear aligner options designed to address crowding, protruding teeth, spacing, and bite concerns. Treatment is carefully planned based on individual orthodontic needs.

Every six months

Check-ups & Cleaning

A gentle look at every tooth, cleaning where needed, and practical advice on brushing, snacks and habits like thumb sucking. The easiest way to keep the rest of this list from ever being needed.

Your child's tooth journey

What happens at each age, and what we do about it

Children's teeth follow a predictable path. Knowing where your child is on it tells you which visits matter now and which problems can be prevented altogether.

6 months to 3 years

The first teeth arrive

The first tooth usually shows by 6 to 10 months, and all 20 milk teeth are in by about age 3.

What we doFirst check-up by the first birthday, fluoride varnish, and a check for feeding bottle decay.

3 to 6 years

Milk teeth do the heavy lifting

Sticky snacks and hard-to-brush back teeth make these the peak cavity years, and pain often shows up only when decay is deep.

What we doFillings for small cavities, pulpectomy when decay has reached the nerve, fluoride every six months.

6 to 12 years

Milk teeth loosen, permanent teeth erupt

The first permanent molars come in behind the milk teeth around age 6, and the front teeth start to change over.

What we doExtraction of milk teeth that will not fall on their own, fluoride for the new molars, and a first braces check at 7.

12 years and up

The permanent set is in

Most milk teeth are gone by 12 to 13, and any crowding, gaps or bite issue becomes clear.

What we doBraces or clear aligners for teens, retainers after, and continued six-monthly check-ups.

Why parents choose Tooth Journey

Built for children, not adapted for them

A specialist, not a general dentist

Dr. Murali holds an MDS in Paediatric & Preventive Dentistry: three extra years of training focused only on children's teeth, growth and behaviour.

A clinic that "doesn't feel like a clinic"

That is a parent's phrase from her Google review. Bright, clean and set up so a first visit feels like a visit, not a procedure. For the few children who still can't manage the chair, conscious sedation and treatment under general anaesthesia are available.

Comfort before anything else

Numbing gel before any injection, treatment explained in kid words, and no forcing. If your child needs a break, we take a break.

Prevention built into every visit

Fluoride, cleaning and habit advice come with the visit, so you spend fewer hours in a dental chair over the years, and fewer rupees too.

What to expect

Your child's first visit, step by step

Most first visits take 20 to 30 minutes. The goal is a child who is happy to come back, not a child who was rushed through.

Step 1

Say hello, no instruments yet

Your child meets Dr. Murali, sits in the chair and gets to know the room. Nothing goes in the mouth until they are comfortable.

Step 2

A gentle count and check

Every tooth is checked and counted out loud. An X-ray only if something needs a closer look, and only with your go-ahead.

Step 3

A clear plan, in plain words

You get the findings, options and costs before anything starts. Your child gets the same story in kid words.

Step 4

Treatment when your child is ready

Simple treatment can often be done the same day. If your child needs time to settle, we book a second short visit rather than push.

Thejendra Reddy

I could clearly see the improvements.

My experience with this clinic over the past 1.5 years has been nothing short of excellent. From the very first consultation to the day my braces came off, the entire journey was handled with professionalism, care, and genuine dedication. The orthodontist Dr. Vasavi mam were always patient, knowledgeable, and reassuring. Every step of the treatment was clearly explained, and I always felt confident that I was in good hands. Appointments were well organized, waiting times were minimal.

Deepak Soni

Quality dental treatment!

We visited Tooth Journey for my son’s root canal treatment, and our experience was excellent. Dr. Murali Krishna was extremely professional and patient in explaining the entire procedure in detail, which really helped us feel at ease. His expertise and gentle approach ensured that my son was comfortable throughout the treatment and did not experience any pain. We would highly recommend him to anyone looking for quality dental treatment.

Srinivasa Murthy

Efficiently with minimal discomfort.

I had a very positive experience with recent dental treatment. Both Dr. Murali Krishna and Dr. Vasavi demonstrated high expertise and maintained a patient-centric approach. The procedure was carried out efficiently with minimal discomfort. The clinic maintained high hygiene standards and the staff ensured a seamless experience from appointment to follow-up. Highly recommended for anyone seeking reliable dental care.

Sweta Goyal

I appreciate her treatment and way of handling kids.

My experience with Dr Vasavi ma'am, in Tooth Journey clinic, was amazing. I have done braces treatment from her for my both the kids and the result is here as shared in the image. It is so good. The treatment went over for more than a year and happy to see that she was not in a hurry like other dentist to just do it for the sake of money or a treatment. She could deliver a smile to my kids and thanks a lot to her for that.

Chakresh Reddy

The hospital maintained a clean and welcoming environment.

We took our 3-year-old son for dental treatment, and our experience with Dr. Murali Krishna Sir was truly exceptional. From the very beginning, he explained our son’s dental issue and the treatment plan in a very clear and reassuring manner, which gave us confidence and peace of mind. What impressed us the most was the way Murali Krishna Sir interacted with our son during the procedure. He kept him engaged, comfortable, and calm throughout, making what could have been a stressful experience much easier for both our child and us as parents.

FAQ

Questions Parents Ask Before Booking

When should my child first see a dentist?

By the first birthday, or within six months of the first tooth appearing, whichever comes first. Early visits are short, mostly about prevention and habits, and they make later visits far easier for your child.

Why treat a milk tooth if it is going to fall out anyway?

Milk teeth hold the space for permanent teeth, guide them into position, and are needed for chewing and clear speech. An untreated infection in a milk tooth can cause pain, swelling, and can affect the permanent tooth forming underneath it. That is why we treat cavities and infections instead of waiting.

What is a pulpectomy? Will it hurt my child?

A pulpectomy is a root canal for a milk tooth: the infected nerve tissue is removed, the canals are cleaned and filled with a material that dissolves as the tooth naturally loosens, and the tooth is sealed. It is done under local anaesthesia after numbing gel, so most children feel pressure rather than pain, and the toothache is gone afterwards.

Is fluoride safe for children?

Yes. Fluoride varnish applied by a dentist uses a very small, controlled amount painted onto the teeth. It sets within minutes. Your child should avoid hard, hot or sticky food for a few hours afterwards, and that is about it.

At what age should my child be checked for braces?

A first orthodontic check around age 7 is recommended. Most children do not need anything at that age, but a few benefit from early treatment while the jaw is still growing. Braces or aligners for the full permanent set are usually planned between 11 and 14, and Dr. Vasavi will give you a clear timeline after the assessment.

My child is scared of the dentist. What if they cry or refuse?

That is normal and expected. We use a tell, show, do approach: explain in simple words, show the tool, then do it. First visits are short and often nothing more than a look and a count. If your child needs a break or a second visit to settle, that is what we do. Children are not forced.

Do you use sedation for children?

For most children, gentle behaviour guidance and local numbing are enough. If your child has very high anxiety, special needs, or a lot of treatment to complete, the dentist will discuss the safest approach with you at the consultation before anything is planned.

How much does treatment cost?

It depends on what your child needs. A filling, a fluoride application, an extraction and a pulpectomy are all priced differently, and you get the exact cost after the check-up, before anything starts. EMI and flexible payment plans are available for braces and aligners.
